We're building something. And we want you to be part of it from day one.
Today, American Pro Rugby is officially announcing the APR Games 2027 — a three-day professional rugby tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, taking place the first weekend of June every year, starting June 6–8, 2027.
This isn't a club tournament. It isn't a sevens event. It isn't a governing body initiative. It's something new — a player-first, professionally produced, 15v15 rugby event in the most electrifying city on earth, with $15,000 in prize money, world-class coaching, and a stage worthy of the sport.
Vegas rugby has arrived. And the APR Games is how it announces itself to the world.
What Is the APR Games?
The APR Games is an annual pro rugby tournament operated by American Pro Rugby, headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. It takes place the first weekend of June every year — Friday through Sunday — with all games played in the evening to take advantage of Las Vegas's atmosphere and cooler nighttime temperatures.
Six teams compete across three divisions:
| Division | Format | Prize Pool |
|---|---|---|
| Men's Elite | 15v15 · 60 minutes | $10,000 |
| Women's Social | 15v15 · 60 minutes | $5,000 |
| Youth Division | Age-appropriate format | Medals & Trophies |
All elite games are 60-minute full 15v15 rugby. Not sevens. Not tens. Real rugby — compressed and intense, on three full fields running simultaneously under floodlights in Las Vegas.
Why Las Vegas? Why Now?
Rugby in America has been building quietly for years. The sport is growing — participation is up, awareness is rising, and a generation of American players is emerging who want more than weekend club rugby. They want a stage. They want competition that means something. They want prize money.
Las Vegas is the right city for exactly that reason. It's the sports and entertainment capital of America. It sells itself globally. The nighttime atmosphere under lights is unlike anywhere else in the country. And critically — the first weekend of June sits right after the domestic USA rugby season ends and right as European club seasons close. Players are match fit, available, and hungry for one more big event before summer.
We're building the APR Games in Las Vegas because no other city in America gives rugby the stage it deserves. Vegas rugby isn't just a location — it's an identity.
The Five Founding Franchises
Five Las Vegas-based teams form the core of the APR Games. Each has its own identity, its own following, and its own reasons to compete. They are:
- Vegas Kings Rugby — The Undisputed Royalty. Regal swagger, precision rugby, and the most decorated name in APR.
- Vegas Knights Rugby — Noble Tradition, Armored for Battle. Disciplined, strategic, and relentlessly competitive.
- Vegas Blackjacks Rugby — Calculated Risk, Bold Play. The sharpest, most tactical side in Vegas rugby.
- Downtown Rugby — The People's Team. Raw talent, local pride, and grassroots grit.
- Vegas Lions Rugby — The Roar of Legacy. Strength, courage, and untamed power.
A sixth team — the Invitational — joins every year, filled with elite international players selected from across the global rugby world. The invitational team will be revealed mid-2027 and represents the global reach of the APR Games. Visit the APR Teams page to learn more about each franchise.
The Player-First Model
Most rugby tournaments charge clubs an entry fee. APR charges the player directly. $299 gets you into the tournament — and that includes your official team jersey, full kit bag, minimum three guaranteed pool games, and opening night event access.
This is deliberate. Existing rugby clubs have established seasons, governing body commitments, and club politics. Building through clubs means building through gatekeepers. APR builds direct relationships with individual players instead — no club affiliation required, no governing body permission needed.
You pay $299. You get your kit. You get on the field. That's it.
Player registration opens August 2026. Register your interest now through Clann13 to get first access when registration opens.
The Coaching Clinic Week
The week before the APR Games — Wednesday June 4 through Friday June 6, 2027 — world-renowned coaches run intensive paid seminars open to all coaches. $499 covers three full days of sessions covering attacking systems, set piece, defence, player development, and video analysis.
These aren't generic coaching workshops. These are the same coaches who will be standing on the sideline at the APR Games the following weekend — coaching the five APR teams in competition. The clinic gives coaches direct access to elite coaching minds and the rare opportunity to see those same coaches in action days later.
Coaching clinic bookings open September 2026. Register your interest on the APR homepage.
The APR Games Event Schedule
The APR Games runs across three days with all matches played in the evening:
- Friday June 6 — Opening ceremony, team parades, coach introductions, and an exhibition match under full lights. Opening night social follows.
- Saturday June 7 — Pool games across all three divisions on three fields simultaneously. Evening kickoffs from 5:00 PM.
- Sunday June 8 — Finals day. Youth final at 4:00 PM, Women's Social final at 6:00 PM, Men's Elite final at 8:00 PM.
All games are scheduled in the evening to address Las Vegas's early June heat — typically 100°F+ during the day — and to maximise the atmosphere that Las Vegas delivers at night. Floodlit rugby in Las Vegas is unlike anything else in American sport.
